Official Club Statement

21 Apr by Matthew Stivala

On Thursday afternoon, our club was the subject of a post on the Big Footy online forum. While we are no strangers to public discussion and acknowledge that commentary, positive or critical is a part of community sport, this particular post crossed an unacceptable line.
The content did not focus solely on club matters but instead singled out and targeted an individual associated with our club, the personal attack included is entirely false and appears to be a deliberate attempt to cause harm.
Bullying and online trolling can affect people of all ages and backgrounds. What may be posted in passing or jest can have a lasting emotional impact on those involved. We stand firmly against this kind of behaviour and ask our community to do the same.
We remind everyone that behind every name, title, or photo online is a real person deserving of dignity and respect. This incident is a timely reminder of the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment both on & off the field.
If you or someone you know has been affected by online bullying or needs support, help is available:
• Kids Helpline (for young people aged 5–25): 1800 55 1800 or kidshelpline.com.au (https://kidshelpline.com.au/)
• Lifeline Australia (24/7 crisis support): 13 11 14 or lifeline.org.au (https://www.lifeline.org.au/)

Our club remains committed to the wellbeing of our members and the values of respect, integrity, and inclusion. We will continue to support those impacted by this incident and take all necessary steps to ensure a safe environment for all.
